The Racing Room Xtras: Slot Car Scenics with a Difference!

Drawing on our skills as artists and builders of showstopping slot car circuits and models, the team at The Racing Room have, over the last 2 years, been developing a brand-new range of pre-coloured , trackside model scenic kits designed with the Scalextric and slot car enthusiast in mind!

With no painting required, each self-assembly kit in The Racing Room XTRAS range has been designed to minimise the amount of time the slot car hobbyist has to spend before it’s ready to add to their track, leaving more time for racing.

Headline items include the innovative modular Grandstand system , where size and shape is unlimited (think Lego of the slot car scenics world), and the 2.5m long Armco barrier which can be used on any track brand either ‘freestanding’ or permanently fixed.

Other kits range from small kiosks , signage and portaloos , to the larger stage and club house kits , with more designs in the pipeline.

Launched in September 2025, The Racing Room Xtras is currently only available to purchase in the UK. The team at The Racing Room is working on plans to launch into Europe in the near future. Join the mailing list to get shipping and product updates.

Our Track at the Silverstone Museum!

In 2023 we had the great honour (and loads of fun) building the Scalextric track in the Silverstone Museum .

Commissioned by Scalextric and the Museum, our interpretation of this classic F1 racing circuit took a dedicated team of 8 artists, joiners, and tech geeks 8 weeks to complete.

A lot of sweat was broken, a ton of timber chopped, and a bucket load of paint was splashed. It was an amazing challenge with heads scratched, problems solved and new skills learnt and shared by all involved.

Tips for writing great posts that increase your site traffic

Write about something you know. If you don’t know much about a specific topic that will interest your readers, invite an expert to write about it.

Speak to your audience

You know your audience better than anyone else, so keep them in mind as you write your blog posts. Write about things they care about. If you have a company Facebook page, look here to find topics to write about

Take a few moments to plan your post

Once you have a great idea for a post, write the first draft. Some people like to start with the title and then work on the paragraphs. Other people like to start with subtitles and go from there. Choose the method that works for you.

Don’t forget to add images

Be sure to include a few high-quality images in your blog. Images break up the text and make it more readable. They can also convey emotions or ideas that are hard to put into words.

Edit carefully before posting

Once you’re happy with the text, put it aside for a day or two, and then re-read it. You’ll probably find a few things you want to add and a couple more that you want to remove. Have a friend or colleague look it over to make sure there are no mistakes. When your post is error-free, set it up in your blog and publish.
